What’s new in version 8.11

Version 8.11 brings powerful new oscillator types, comprehensive real-time visualization, advanced sequencer capabilities, and workflow enhancements.

New Oscillator Types
  • JP-8080 Super 7 Supersaw: Classic Roland JP-8080 supersaw algorithm with seven stacked sawtooth oscillators (one master plus six detuned) for massive trance leads and pads
  • Pulse Width knob controls detune amount from subtle string-like chorus to full supersaw spread
  • LFO and Mod Envelope modulation of detune via standard PW destination for animated timbres
  • Phase mode support: random phase per note (authentic JP-8080) or retriggered phase for consistent attack
  • Green LED indicator on SAW button distinguishes Super 7 from Parabolic (blue LED)
  • Available on both OSC1 and OSC2 with full unison compatibility for additional stereo width
  • LCD displays "Super 7 (PW>Detune)" as control mapping reminder
Real-Time Visualization
  • Oscilloscope Waveform Display: Real-time stereo waveform visualization in voice counter area with LED glow effect and dynamic brightness based on signal level
  • Skin-aware color theming with configurable ARGB colors (background, main, loud, glow) per skin in Skin.xml
  • Full alpha support for transparent backgrounds and blended waveforms
  • Toggle via Edit > Appearance > Oscilloscope menu option (persists globally)
  • Master Volume VU Meter: Real-time output level visualization on master volume knob using green LED indicator
  • Modulation Indicators: Green overlay indicators on Pulse Width, FM Amount, AMP Gain, Wave Semitone, OSC2 Semitone, Filter Cutoff, and Pan knobs showing LFO/ModEnv/Mod Step modulation
  • Real-time envelope position display on all AMP, VCF, and Mod envelope ADSR knobs
  • Multi-voice pan indicator displays all active voice positions simultaneously in voice-panning modes
Voice Note Panning Mode
  • New third panning option that positions notes in the stereo field based on MIDI note number (low notes left, high notes right)
  • L/R controls center note across full MIDI range (0-127) with Amount controlling stereo separation
  • Rate adds dynamic drift LFO for evolving stereo movement with optional tempo sync
  • Pan preset menu reorganized with Mode submenu (Layer / Voice / Voice Note)
Gate Sequencer Note Retrigger
  • Four-state gate sequencer supporting Off, Gate On, Retrigger, and Gate+Retrigger per step
  • Full voice note-off/note-on cycle on retrigger steps for hard envelope restarts and dynamic rhythmic articulation
  • White circle UI indicator displays retrigger-enabled steps in gate sequencer view
  • Independent editing modes: normal click toggles gate state, right-click toggles retrigger state
  • Morph mode/Shift+click alternative for retrigger editing via "Note Retrig Edit" toggle in GATE preset menu
  • Enhanced LCD display shows all four gate states with descriptive labels
Arpeggiator Improvements
  • Fixed first arp note delay when pressing a key after 2+ seconds of silence with tempo-synced arp rates
  • Gate retrigger now triggers arpeggiator notes immediately instead of waiting for the next sample cycle
  • Fixed Markov arp mode double increment bug that caused erratic step advancement
  • Proper arpeggiator step advancement in gate retrigger for all arp modes (down, up&down, up, random, rand2, Markov)
Workflow Enhancements
  • VA Oscillator Switch submenu added to OSC preset dropdown for quick access to Free Running, Phase Reset, and Off modes
  • Command+double-click resets morph sense to zero on all aftertouch sense knobs
  • Sense edit mode inverts Command key behavior for consistent sense/value editing workflow
  • Mod sequencer value input changed from Ctrl+Click to Shift+Click for more intuitive modifier usage
  • Native macOS dialog integration for mod value input on Mac platform
  • Improved LFO/gate timing synchronization during idle CPU optimization with phase compensation for all waveform types
Performance & Optimization
  • Assets Pack System: New VPAK format packs all skin files into a single Assets.pack file per skin for smaller installer size and faster loading
  • Per-skin image caching for faster subsequent loads with thread-safe pack access
  • Automatic fallback to Default skin when selected skin's pack is missing
  • Dynamic wavetable decimation support for runtime size optimization using half memory with 2x-16x oversampling
  • Reduced GUI memory spikes through voice counter caching and optimized repaint handling

I'm thoroughly chuffed with Discovery Pro 8. Its sound quality is top-notch, brimming with richness and clarity. The support for WAV files and nifty resampling features are quite the boon for creative sound design. Impressively, I can easily run up to 128 voices per core on my M1 Mac Studio and the extensive library of presets caters brilliantly to any genre. It's becoming an indispensable asset in my studio.

Discovery was ones a very good vsti plugin. It sounds great and emulates the Nord Lead synths nicely but sadly it cannot cope with the rest of the bunch nowadays. There are now definitely much better alternatives (read: way way way better) and much cheaper too. On a side note: Discovery also requires much more CPU power compared to others. Some sounds even bog my i7 at 80%. I suggest looking at D16 Lush101 synth. It is cheaper and produces incredible sounds (better compared to Discovery). Conclusion: first look at all the (free and payed) alternatives before paying for this.

About twenty years ago I owned a original Nord Lead 1 It was a great VA-synth that sounded really analog enough to fool many ears. NL2 and most certainly NL3 aren't very good imo and so is this VST plugin. It just sounds too digital to me. For me there is only one really good VST plugin doing incredibly analog emulations : B16 Lush101 Its less expensive then Discovery Pro and way better sounding.

Very good vsti but too expensive. I like the Nord Lead patch import. Please consider a lower price.

Come on guys, it's not shareware when it's nearly $200! Next you'll be claiming Office or Photoshop is shareware too! It's commercial software & should be listed as such.
